At the beginning of this month, it became glaringly apparent that baby food was no longer making the grade. No matter that it was all homemade, pureés were causing my usually happy 6 month old boy to wail, fling spoons across the room, and stare me down tight-lipped. While I admired this streak of fierce independence, initially I was also a bit confounded about what to feed him. Since he was quite content when attempting to feed himself Cheerios (regardless of how many actually made it into his mouth), I decided to continue letting him be in control of what went in his mouth. I've been cooking veggies till they're a bit softer than I would normally eat, and then offering them to him. He is completely thrilled to exert some control over his meals (and to use his newly-sprouted top teeth). And we haven't encountered anything that he doesn't like yet. Sweet potatoes seem to be his favorite, and he likes zucchini a lot, too. Here he is with some of his other favorites:
Teething on Celery
(he doesn't really eat this, he just kind of gnaws on it)
